Mountain View, Google, Yahoo!, Hewlett-Packard and Box are all facing litigation from Titanide Ventures, due to alleged infringement of patents related to cloud storage technology.
The technology Titanide Ventures is trying to protect from these larger tech companies allows users to store emails, photos, documents and other digital content online in the cloud, and gives users access to the data from anywhere.
"We believe this is another instance where major corporations are infringing on the ideas and technology of a smaller company," said Christopher Banys, head of nationwide intellectual property practice for The Lanier Law Firm. "Our hope is that this lawsuit will hold these defendants accountable for profiting from our client’s patented technology."
Intellectual property is often in dispute among tech companies, highlighting the importance of obtaining a robust professional liability insurance policy with IP coverage.
The patents involved in the lawsuit include U.S. Patent No. 6,714,968, U.S. Patent No. 6,735,623 and U.S. Patent No. 6,952,724.
