In the current patent infringement case between ParkerVision and Qualcomm, the patent claim construction or "Markmen" hearing was recently scheduled for August 10, 2012, when the judge is to issue his ruling on key aspects of the claims ParkerVision brought against Qualcomm.
"We are passionate about the technology that ParkerVision has developed, and we are committed to protecting our patented innovations from unauthorized use," stated Jeffrey L. Parker, chairman and CEO of ParkerVision. "We look forward to showing the court and jury how Qualcomm is using ParkerVision's technology despite the legal patent protections that we have expended a great deal of time and capital to secure."
The extensive costs for patent infringement cases such as this one can often be covered by professional liability insurance policies, which provide essential protection for tech companies.
ParkerVision was also recently in the news for expanding its wireless intellectual property portfolio with 23 new patents that the company acquired in 2011.
With its recent expansion, the company has grown its portfolio to 188 domestic and international patents, mainly on radio frequency communications technology.
