With media marketing becoming a booming industry throughout the United States, it is important for companies like Augme Technologies to protect their patented marketing-related technology, which is why the company recently filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Millennial Media.
Augme alleges Millennial infringed upon its patents related to a method and code module for adding function to a web page, and a method and system for adding function to a web page.
"We believe that Augme's patented intellectual property portfolio represents one of the company's most valuable assets and provides significant market and competitive advantages," said Paul Arena, CEO of Augme. "The company must vigorously protect and enhance its proprietary position in the mobile marketing and mobile advertising industry, and the filing of this suit is consistent with our position that infringing competitors must be prosecuted."
As these types of lawsuits can be especially costly for technology companies, it is important for them to purchase professional liability insurance, which can help cover the costs of patent infringement lawsuits.
